Job Description

Finance Business Partner

One of the United Kingdom’s leading banks, finance directorate plays a critical role in protecting the Bank’s financial position and reputation, promoting effective controls and driving timely decision making and resource management. Analytical insights and high quality management is required whilst reporting to the Bank’s senior management. Partnering with all areas of the organisation and technical expertise in the areas of accounting and tax.


  • High quality finance business partnering support

  • Effective financial oversight

  • Management of operational cost ("BAU") and strategic investment cost.

  • The role sits within the Financial Performance and Finance Systems team of c. 20 staff


  • Financial oversight and management of operational and strategic investment cost

  • Responsive finance business partnering support

  • Managing the month end process and all team tasks required to ensure month end processes are delivered on a timely basis

  • Presenting monthly Finance MI results to Business Heads

  • Reviewing and challenging monthly and YTD position

  • Translating business strategy into financial plans

  • Implementing annual planning process,

Job Description

  • Business planning and reporting 25%

Skills & Competencies Required:

  • Time management skills and ability to work under time pressure;

  • Influencing and managing key stakeholders

  • Challenging effectively on budgets and forecasts

  • Acquiring new skills quickly in order to interrogate systems

  • Communicating financial information and analysis

Knowledge & Experience Required:

  • Candidates should be a fully qualified accountant or have commensurate on the job experience

  • Strong analytical ability – experience in banking / insurance or in an industry which requires complex analysis

  • Excellent Excel and data analytics;

  • Experience in the preparation of financial reporting outputs

  • Managing work load between operational deadlines

  • Planning project work and deliver results to an agreed timetable and

  • Presenting findings clearly, verbally and in writing.
